Every worthwhile way to Yosemite

Yosemite listings overlap heavily. These are the formats that genuinely differ — where they start, how long you actually spend in the park, whether the entrance fee is included, and what they leave out.

How booking a Yosemite trip works

1 · Check what the price includes

A private vehicle pays $35 at the gate for seven days, and every non-US resident aged 16 and older pays an extra $100, on a commercial tour too. Check whether a tour includes both fees or leaves them to you.

2 · Count the hours in the park, not the hours of the trip

San Francisco is 195 miles and 4 to 5 hours from the park by road, each way. On a day trip, compare the time in Yosemite Valley, not the length of the day.

3 · Match the trip to the season

Glacier Point Road and Tioga Road close in winter, the waterfalls peak in May or June, and some falls are dry by August. A tour that promises Glacier Point only works while the road is open.
